Dear Family Letter
Dear Family,

My name is Melinda Horvath, I am from Budapest, Hungary. I am living in Ealing with my boyfriend, am 33 years old.
I have great sense for children, can communicate and get on with them easily. I am a cheerful, bubbly, reliable and precise person. I have gained great experience during the first year with different genders and age groups starting from newborn, both sole charge and as shared care nanny.
I am looking for a sole charge live-out job in West London. I am planning to stay in London for at least 5 more years.

I moved from Hungary in June 2010. Up to December 2010 I worked for a lovely British family as a live-in mother`s help, looking after three little girls aged 7 months, 2.5 years and 5 years at my joining time. Sadly, they have moved to Wiltshire.
My daily routine used to look as follows: I started at 7.30.am and I got the girls dressed. Then I gave them breakfast, did their snack-bags, packed all their necessary things in the school bags and their mum took them to school. I spent all my day with the smallest child. I put her down for a rest from 9.30-.10.30. Then we went out for a walk and after having got home I did their lunch. I fed the middle sister and the baby, then they both had a rest 1.00.pm-3.00.pm. My afternoon shift started with taking the girls to the playground, then I prepared their tea and gave bath to all of them. I finished at 7.00.pm.
Me and the girls liked doing puzzles, having “tea parties” or “family holidays”, drawing, painting. We loved spending a lot of time outdoors, I think it is important that they have some fresh air.
I can say that I have made a great relationship with the little girls in a very short time. It has been a hard work because they are different ages, completely different characters but I can surely say it was worth it.

January-October 2011 I have been worked for a Belgian family as a live-in sole charge nanny, looking after four children: two boys aged 4 and 6, two girls aged 2 and 4 months.
I usually started at 7.45. or 8.15.am, and we had breakfast together with the little girls. Then I took the elder one (baby also came with us) to gym, Gymboree, dancing class, library, park, playground, playgroup, children`s centre, rhyme time, etc… I tried to find out something different for every day. When the parents needed to go to work early, I started at 7.00.am, gave the kids breakfast, got them dressed and dropped them off at the school bus stop.
After lunch the girls had a nap, whilst I was having my lunch break and did some laundry/ironing for the children. Then we used to go and pick up the boys from school but since the mum had been at home she took this task over from me. We all went to the playground or park, unless it was really bad weather.
When having got home, I used to help the elder boy doing his homework and I sometimes gave some to the younger one as well – to keep him busy. If they did not understand something, I was trying to explain in several ways. Last time when the eldest found Math boring, we used his toes to help summing up numbers bigger than ten.
Upon our arrival from the park, I did their dinner and also helped with the bath and putting them into bed if needed.
This job had become a shared care as of May 2011 when the fourth child was born. I normally looked after the girls or maximum three of the kids.
From time to time the mum was on business trip. These days/weeks the little girls went to their grandparents, and I had the two boys. At this family I would highlight flexible hours as every day/week has different schedule.
I also used to travel with the family for vacations which is about 8 weeks on a yearly basis. I flew by myself with the boys and was responsible for them during the journey.
My reason for leaving was that there has been a change in my personal life, I am moving in with my boyfriend.

Now, I am working part time as a live-out nanny from Monday to Wednesday. I am looking for a job for Thursday or Friday, half or full day.

Before all that, I used to work for Procter and Gamble, which is one of the biggest FMCG (fast moving commercial goods) multinational companies and has a good reputation. I was the personal assistant of the marketing director.

My mum, Julianna has retired, she used to be an accountant executive. My father, Joseph has also retired, his occupation is electrical engineer. They have divorced. I have a sister, Emőke who is a bank administrator. She is married, has two children: Izabella, age 18 and Gergely, age 17.

When I lived at home, in Hungary, I loved to spend my freetime with my family. At weekends
I invited my sisters` and my mum with her boyfriend for lunch, I cooked for them and then we were chatting. We sometimes went to exhibitions, theatre, cinema together.
I have been taking care of my niece and nephew, Iza and Geri many times since their birth, so I have built up a really good relationship with them. We can discuss anything. They are open and whenever they need help, come to me for advice. It always makes me feel great. I teach belly dance for my niece because she loves dancing. I practise English with my nephew because he is not that good in it and I would like to help him improve and get better marks at school.

I have a belly dance teacher certificate, and I love teaching small girls (age 10-16).
I always have fun with kids no matter what age they are. I used to do babysitting for my former colleagues who have 6 months, 1-year-old and 2 years old children. I played with them, read tales, went for a short walk and to the nearby playground, changed nappies and we dew together. I even helped with light housework if it was needed, i.e. ironing, sweeping-up and mopping, washing up dirty dishes, doing the laundry.

I have two godsons, Christopher and Richard, they are 3 and 1.5 years old. When I lived at home in Budapest, I visited them weekly, and sometimes did babysitting so that their parents could go out and make programs. They are really adorable. When we are together, we are playing – usually with toys that are improving their skills; going to the playground, then I prepare them food, clear up in the kitchen and tidy their room.

I adore animals. My favourite writer is Gerald Durrell. His books are very interesting, and at the same time funny. I also like reading books on physchology and philosophy,
self-discovery. I think it is important to try to improve ourselves and find out who we really are so that we can understand and accept others.

I have a 7-year-old female cat, she is lovely and playful. I used to have another one for ten years but unfortunately she passed away in 2004.
I have a lot of friends from different nationalities because I have been traveling a lot and I also keep in touch with many of my former colleagues at P&G.
I like going to the gym and attend aerobic lessons. It makes me feel fit and healthy. I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, currently I am trying to decrease the intake of sweets and carbohydrats.

In Hungary, I used to help as a volunteer for a foundation which is supporting orphans in Kenya.
I corrected the text of introduction and activites that were shown on their webpage, and attended concerts, events to help with logistics.
I spent one month in South-Africa, was taking care of monkeys in a sanctuary called International Primate Rescue. There were cca. 40 marmosets, 3 monas and 3 squirrel monkeys. Me and a few other volunteers were responsible for feeding, giving medicines, cleaning the enclosures, giving special attention to the old and sick monkeys. We also had to do the housework, and were cooking together. Everything was done on a rotating basis, in couples. I could made close friendships during my staying. On top it was a big challenge since there were people from different ages, cultures and with different nationalities. It is one of the greatest experience of my life.

Thank you for reading my introduction, I am happy to answer further questions.
