We are Michael and Angye, an easygoing, cheerful au pair couple looking for a host family in the UK. We were both born in Galati, a beautiful city in Romania placed on the Danube shore, which is the second biggest river in Europe. We’re both 26 years old, honest and reliable.
Michael:
I graduated the law university and in about a year I plan to pursue a masters degree, but I am yet to make up my mind concerning my future area of specialization. Also I have to sit an important exam in October 2012. So, at the moment, I would like to take some time out of academics to have a different life experience, and to have time to calmly reflect on my future academic professional orientation. To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting.
I am fluent in English. I started learning English in primary school, and it was also the language of instruction in the secondary school I attended. I have in addition been taking courses taught in English at university. I am nevertheless aware that learning a language within a classroom context is by itself, incomplete. So, in order to really be at ease in English, I feel that a cultural immersion would do me a lot of good. Through my language teachers, I have learnt a lot about UK, the British people and life in UK. Hence my desire to have a first hand experience of British life. I am particularly interested in experiencing family life abroad since it offers a cultural context that is undoubtedly different from mine.
A little bit more about me: I’m a handyman, experienced in gardening, painting, property maintenance and other jobs. Also I’m an experienced driver (passed my driving test 7 years ago) with no penalty points.
Angye:
I’m as well a university graduate in economic sciences. I would like to be au pair in order to improve my childcare skills, and to bring my English to an advanced level as I am aware that this is a “must have” skill for everyone aspiring to a better job in the future. Also I always wanted to visit UK and learn a bit more about its culture and people, so what’s more exciting than putting all together the things you love.
I have had some babysitting experience of looking after a five years old girl called Diana. She is a lovely little girl. Now she is 9, and we still keep in touch, I see her once a week. She’s a handball player and I’m accompanying her when she has important matches with the team. I’m experienced in property maintenance...dusting, ironing and other household arts. I have a driving license with no penalty points. Also I’m a very good cook.
Why do we chose UK for the au pair program?
We’ve been before in the UK, doing different temp jobs in order to earn money to sustain our university studies. Since then we promised ourselves that after we finish our studies we will come back through the au pair program to experience a little bit more from the British culture. We still have British driving licenses with no penalty points and we are used driving on the “wrong side” of the road. Also we are registered as self employed in the UK(temporarily suspended) and we have national insurance numbers and everything else that is needed for legal work.
When it comes to leisure, we take pleasure in the simple things in life. We enjoy being outdoors, trekking, being with our friends, going for walks, visiting places we have not been to, and reading a good book. Also we are full of energy and we love going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week.
As far as preferences are concerned, we are looking for a live-in arrangement with a host family that would be happy to have us stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. We are availble for work asap. We would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about us; to learn more about your family; your interests and to know more about what you expect from the au pair arrangement.
