Dear family, my name is Lucia and I live in Sardinia, the beautiful island in the south-west of Italy. I hope to find a nice and fun family to live with during a few months; I’ll help you taking care of your children and doing some housework and I hope you’ll treat me as a member of your family... I’d really like to know you, to talk and to do many things together to have a pleasant stay at your place and to practice English... I have no experience as an au-pair but I’m sure you won’t regret to choose me, because I’m very serious and perfectionist in what I do, if I decide or have to do something I do it well, I don’t like to waste time and I try to make the most of my time... If you do the same I’m the right au-pair for you, and if you don’t do the same but you like these ideas, I’m the right au-pair for you as well! I’ll do it for you! I hope to find smart children which like to do many things at home and outdoors and have many interests, I don’t mind if they’re untidy, slow in doing things, not very good at school, because I can help them with all this... I would mind if they’re bad, impolite or dirty, because good manners and personal hygiene are very important values for me. I hope they’re interested in foreign languages like French and Italian, but this is not a fundamental point, of course.
During my stay I hope I’ll have some time to follow an English course, to jog, to sightsee, to shopping, to do some outings (even with you and with the children if you’d like to)... I hope also that you don’t live in a very small town because I’d like to meet others au-pairs and young people to socialize and maybe go out in the evenings, when I’m free... but the most important thing is that you live in a peaceful town, from the crime rate point of view. I hope my English is not too bad for you, I know I have to improve it, and I hope you’ll help me with that!

In February I’m finishing my three year degree course, and I’d like to start in September with a specialist degree course to become an interpreter or a translator, but there is an entrance test to be admitted that is very very hard, in English and French... I’ve already spent 9 months in France as an Erasmus student and I reached a very high level of French, so now I’d like to balance the level of the two languages and as Erasmus is once in a life, I think that the second best way to learn quickly is being an au-pair. This is the main reason but not the only one, because even when I was in France I took part to a project that allows foreign students to know a French family and spend some time with them, so I had a family in France too! I really like to know native people when I’m abroad, discover their way of life and show them my way of life as well. I think we can’t correctly speak a foreign language if we don’t know and understand how natives think and behave.
