I am looking forward to staying with you and I wanted to tell you a bit about myself before we meet. Firstly, my name is Gema; I was born in a village with 32,000 people which is located in Spain, where I live to this day.
I live with my parents. My father is retired because he had a problem in his eyes when he was younger, and my mother is a housewife. My only sister, who is 31, is an English teacher. She lives about five minutes away from me with her husband and my baby nephew, who is two years old. In my free time I really am like his second mother to him. I make him food, bathing, dressing, etc.
Now I will tell you more about me. I am an open-minded, active, nice and responsible person. I am honest and reliable. Because I am easy-going I can deal with new situations and you would have no problems with me.
I get along best with optimistic and tolerant people with a sense of humor. Many of my friends have these qualities and I truly enjoy their presence. I like laughing but I can also be serious and appreciate common conversation.
My attitude towards animals is positive, so it wouldn´t be a problem if you have a dog or a cat. I’m very used to animals in the house!
While I was at University, I lived alone in other city, so I cleaned my flat, made my own meals and I also did my own laundry and ironing. I am actually a very clean, organized person and my bedroom reflects that.
I am currently finishing my degree on English Philology and Tourism (3 subjects left) but I have always had to work in order to pay my degree so, I have to combine work with studying.
I work as a teacher in a private academy of English. I have been teaching English since I was 15. I don’t work full time as a teacher. I work from 16.00 to 22.00 p.m. although I have to work some mornings, too. So, I usually study in the mornings and at weekends.
I love working with children; it gives me so much satisfaction; at the end of the day a hug from a child makes it all worth the hard work.
My hobbies are traveling, reading books, listening to music, surfing the internet and spending time on the countryside. I also like cooking, spending time with friends, gardening and photography. My favorite writers are Paulo Coelho, Dan Brown and Jorge Bucay. Furthermore, I like going to the cinema, museums and theater.
Traveling is my favorite activity. One of my goals in life is to travel all over the world! I love meeting new people and learning all about their backgrounds because I believe everyone has a story. That is a lot of why I want to be an exchange student: I love learning about other cultures and I can’t think of a better way to do that! I really look forward to being immersed in another way of life and learning about the world outside of my own.
I like the English language and I enjoy speaking it. Sometimes I make mistakes or don’t understand everything (sorry), but I hope when I arrive to the UK I will brush it up.
I’m looking for a job as an au pair while I brush up my English. As I told you before, I’m finishing my degree and I only have to do 3 exams and I don’t have to attend lessons, so I could study there (in my free time).
Finally, I want to thank you for your kindness.
Regards,
Gema.
