Thank you for taking your time to read my letter. My name is Nikola and I am 23 years old. I was born in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria but I grew up in a small town called Chepelare, a famous ski resort in the magnificent Rhodopes Mountains. I grew up in a harmonious family, surrounded by love and strong family traditions. My mother is a piano teacher in the music school in Shiroka Laka, and my father is an ex-military. I have a sister who is 2 years younger than me. When I was a young boy I used to help my mom with the cares for my sister and the housekeeping. Thanks to my mother I grew up with love for music and the arts, and thanks to my father I learned to be well-organised and disciplined. I was a cute boy in love with painting and modelling. When I was 14 I was happy to be admitted to a secondary mathematical school in another town, so I left home and became independent. As soon as I finished my secondary school education I got my driving licence and devoted one year to serious preparation in painting in order to follow my great ambition applying for Architecture. At the same time my mother rented a small family hotel, and because my father was far away at the time, I had to take the hotelier place. There I gained experience in practising English with our guests as a tourist guide, forwarder, ski teacher etc. Later I had to go to Switzerland in order to help my father and there I gained a lot of driving experience, over 15 000km abroad. As soon as my preparation year was over I entered the University for Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy in Sofia (???) and now I’m a fourth-year (???) student in Architecture. At the beginning of third course I started working as an intern-architect in an architectural atelier for 6 months. Then the crisis came and I was among the many architects who lost their jobs. This summer I participated in a Christian children camp at the seaside. It was organized by the church where my uncle is a priest. There I had to care for the children, to take them for walks or just to play with them. This experience encouraged me to search for new possibilities for myself. So I made up my mind for the au pair program which would give me possibility to improve my English command in the United Kingdom, a country with such rich history and architecture. English is absolutely essential for a good architect. I’d be happy to do postgraduate work or internship in the UK as soon as I finish my higher education in Bulgaria of course. I am interested in architecture, photography, geography, ecology, philosophy. I like travelling, camping, walking in the nature, listening to music, painting, modelling and last but not least – cooking culinary temptations. With pleasure I would cook for you some Bulgarian national dish. Also I’ll be glad to receive your family as my guests in winter in Bulgaria. You’re welcome to skiing, enjoying and sightseeing. I don’t smoke or drink. I love children and animals. I am curious to see how English children are growing up to become so well-mannered and well-bred. I am able to drive for your family when I adapt to the right side. I will be glad to hear from you soon. Greetings and best wishes form Bulgaria. Nikola
