I am writing in hopes to become your next Au Pair. I am American-born but I have not lived in the United States for the last 10 years. I spent 3 years in Japan then another 3 years in Germany with my parents. After I finished high school, my parents went back to the states and I decided to stay in Europe and move to Prague. I have been here for the last 4 years with my boyfriend (we have been together for 6 years).
I am currently in college studying early childhood education through the University of Phoenix while working full time at a Pre-school teaching an afterschool club for children 6-8. The school I currently work at is called the Orangery (http://www.orangery.cz/en/006). I enjoy what I do, but frankly, I am exhausted of it. I love the children but I feel like I am teaching all the time. When I am at work I am with the kids and when I am not at work I am studying education or preparing lesson plans, or getting supplies for upcoming classes. I am wanting to get a different perspective of the educational field and hopefully one that will better help me understand the educational process of children outside of the classroom.
I enjoy reading in my spare time. At the moment, I am reading my way through the Harry Potter series as I didnt have a desire for it when I was younger. I enjoy watching tv shows that I cant get here online (check out sidereel.com for clarification) and going to the latest movies. I spend a lot of my time out of doors, partly because I like the feeling of being unrestricted by walls. I tend to teach to this with my class at the moment as I have found that vocabulary is better retained with tangible objects thus specializing in non-traditional teaching.
I am extremely organized, perhaps a little obsessed with it. I like to keep busy because it keeps me focused. It drives my boyfriend crazy because I have an agenda book and a notebook that I have to write everything in color coded inks to be able to understand it.
I have recently taken up pilates and yoga and have introduced my class to it as well. It increases their concentration and calms them down. Too often children are too busy to take a few minutes to relax the mind and the body
Currently studying early childhood education through the University of Phoenix. I enjoy reading. I love being out of doors.
Reasons For Becoming An Au Pair/Nanny etc:
I am American but I have lived in Europe for the last 7 years. I have seen a lot of places but not nearly enough to satisfy me. I want to see more and experience more while I am young and have a passion for travel and cultures.
