I am writing to you because I am very much interested in being a part of your family for a year.
My name in Anca Urdea and I’m a 24 year old Romanian. I am a sociology graduate for a year but I currently work as an Insurance Inspector for Allianz. Aside from my job I am also a volunteer for the Scout Association in Romania.
I'm an enthusiastic and dynamic person, smiling most of the time and rarely upset. I am a responsible (one of the many good things someone learns while being a scout leader) young woman who likes safe adventures. I adapt easily to different environments and I’m a quick learner. I am a team person and usually, when dealing with kids, I prefer to be one of the team members rather than to stay on the sidelines. I enjoy the company of others but I also need my privacy. I like to read (haven't given up on sociology; nor on bed time stories); I love dancing (rock and salsa are my favorites) and driving around, listening to good music. I'm a little shy and sometimes it's really noticeable (my face turns red... how much worse can it get?).
I am used to being away from home as I’ve participated since … ever … to national and international camps, with or without the scouts, as a participant or as a leader. I’ve been a volunteer for the Scout Association twice in the UK, for more than a month. I’ve also traveled to the USA for 4 months where I worked at the front desk in a hotel.
My experience with children comes from 3 different directions: I used to take care of my younger brother while my parents were at work (this was a long time ago, he’s 19 now), during high-school and university I used to baby-sit my cousin (she’s 11 now) and, most recently, I run weekly activities for scouts.
I have joined the scouts almost 9 years ago, as a shy but energetic explorer and after I turned 18 I became a leader. During 3 years I was a scout leader for children aged between 11 and 15 years old and now, since December last year, I’m working with high-school kids. As a scout leader I have participated to several trainings which thought me how to deal with children, the characteristics for different age groups, their interests etc.
As an au-pair I believe I have a lot to give. Aside from bringing a little of my culture into your home (maybe a bit of cooking, music, Romanian bed time stories etc), I want to be a friend for your children, someone they can play with, do their homework and like spending time with and a reliable and responsible adult you can leave your children with for you.

I have traveled widely in Europa and in the USA. The longest period I have spent abroad was 4 months in the USA, in sunny Florida. I have visited the UK 3 times and the longest stay was 6 month in London.

Reasons For Becoming An Au Pair/Nanny etc:
I'd like to be an au pair because I like children, I gained a lot of experience while being a scout leader and taking care of my younger brother and my cousin. I choose the UK because out of all countries I've visited is my favorite. I especially like London for its international atmosphere, rich history and elegant streets.
