Dear Host Family,
First let me introduce myself. My name is Alexandra Maria Gheorghe and I am 21. I am currently studying Business Administration in English at the Academy of Economic Studies from Bucharest, 3rd year student.
Although I am an only child, I have always wished for a sibling. Unfortunately, due to health problems, my parents were unable to have another child. But, being born in a big family compensate that. I grew up with a cousin, he was 2 years older than me, but then I got 2 little cousins which I used to babysit every summer for 8 years.
As I grew up, living in a small village, later on moving to the city, I was forced to learn basic activities necessary in every household. My mother and my grandmother teached me how to cook, how to do laundry, to sew, to iron, to clean a house and to use all appliances.
My family is composed by me, my mother, Stefania(46), she is a nurse and she taught me basic knowledge in first aid care, and my father, Niculae(48), he is a worker for the romanian railway. We live in a 2 rooms apartment in Ploiesti, a small and quiet town near the capital of Romania.
I consider myself to be a people person, I have many friends and I love children, and they love me back too from the first contact. During the years I took care of other kids too. Among the activities we conduct I could point out teaching them English, helping them write and colour. I am a very patient person, I like to explain things, to point the difference between good and bad, even if I would have to do it more than once.
My hobbies include taking long walks, watching tv-shows, listening to music. I enjoy going out with friends or at the movies. I also love reading classic books, as well as contemporary or business ones.
The decision to be an au pair in the United Kingdom was not hard to make. I have always loved Great Britain and always wanted to learn more about it. Also, even if I am currently studying in English, my language skills could be improved and the best way for this to happen is direct contact.
As my future plans, I will be honest and say that i don`t know. My dream is to continue my studies with a Masterate program in UK, but before that I would need some time to decide exactly what I want to study and where and how to finance it.
