I am 24 years old and would love to work as an au-pair because I really love children. I had a wonderful experience as an au pair in the Netherlands this summer, taking care of a girl (8 years old) and a baby boy (8 months old).
I am currently living in Kalmar where I am studying an economy programme called "Music and Event Management". It's an really interesting education, but I will be finished with my courses in the end of january 2012. After that I only have an internship left to do to get my university degree. However, me and my boyfriend would love to get the opportunity to get to know new countries and cultures before that! Therefore we want to become aupairs, as we feel it's a great way to really get to know another culture.
Before I started my education, I lived in Stockholm with my parents and my sister. Since my mother is from Finland, I speak both Swedish (mothertongue) and Finish (not perfect, but I manage with it). I have also studied English at the university. In Stockholm I was also taking care of two young children for more than 4 years. The boy had just turned 1 when I started, and when his sister was born in 2006 I started taking care of her too. Usually I picked them up from daycare about 3 times each week, and took care of them until their parents came home. I still have a lot of contact with the children, and spend time with them each time I come to Stockholm.
I have also been planning and working at a camp for children aged 8 to 13, and taking care of twin girls for a few months (they were about 1 year at the time). Because of this, I have experience in taking care of both babies and a bit older children.
In my spare time I like to listen to music, spend time with my boyfriend and my friends, to take photos, bake cakes and a lot more. I like to spend time both inside and outside and to learn new things. I'm honest, reliable and creative in many ways :)
I don't have a driver's licence yet, but I'm practising for it a lot so I will most likely get it this year.
I have been living together with my boyfriend for the last 2,5 years since we started the university. However, I have known him for longer than that and can assure you that he is a really nice, social and friendly person! He plays the guitar and the piano, sings a lot, and is also really good at cooking lovely food!
Both I and my boyfriend have been studying very hard at the university for the last 2,5 years. Now we are almost finished but feel that we would really like to see more of the world and get some new experiences before we start working. We would like to work as an aupair couple because we love children and because we want to learn about other cultures. I have been an au pair before and know that I like it and that it is an excellent way of getting to know a new culture! I like the fact that you are not only a tourist, but get to know a family!
