My name Is Laura, I'm 35 years old and live in the South of Italy, in a nice town by the Adriatic Sea, very close to Bari. I am a very reliable person, probably due to my age and my education: I attended private catholic schools and, most of all, I come from a strongly traditional family with high moral values, who teachs me everyday the real meaning of life. I'm an only child and I still live at home with my parents: my father owns a farm, grows up grapes and produces wine, while my mother is an housewife. I really care about family, friendship and every social relationship...who knows me says that I'm very friendly, confident, trustworthy, energetic and have a positive outlook on life! During the last 10 years, I gained lots of experience looking after children and adolescents: I've been babysitting for all the neighborhood and grew up my little cousins while my aunt was working; moreover I used to work as volounteer near to my parish organizing many different activities for children of any age and I've been working as group leader and leisure organizer in several summer-schools in England and Ireland, a job that involves great responsability, flexibility and common sense. It is not that simple being in charge of 14-15 children during all the trip and supervise all their activities! Thank to it I visited London many times and spent the last 7-8 summers travelling between Dublin, Cambridge and Oxford. I cannot hide a particular "attraction" for all the "British word", which goes back to the school-time, when I started studying the language and that is one of the reasons why I'd love to spend one or two years in Uk to improve my English and experience your habits and traditions. I know it could be difficoult leaving home, parents and friends to move in another country where everything is different and anyone is a stranger, but I also guess I'm pretty independent and keen of new challenges: probably thank to this "free -spirit" I'll never feel sad thinking about things and people I leave behind me and I easily get along with new environment. The aim of this new challenge is having the possibility to improve my English knowledge and practise it in the everyday's life: I got the First Certificate in English almost three years ago and I'm actually studing for the Advanced exams. I cannot express a vote by myself, thinking about my English level. But during these last years, working around the Uk, I met many English teachers and people who have English as their first language and I've been really satisfied by their comments: I guess I would have no problem helping children with school homeworks. Probably my "weakness" is mostly the conversation...I need to enrich my vocabulary, which is quite simple at the moment, but it is just a matter of time and practise. If I able to read a novel, and I can, with a score of 75-80% vocabularies known...I suppose it's already not that bad!
Moreover I've great organisational skills and I can manage with all the household duties; I'm a confident driver, with a clean driving license and I've been practising a lot on the English roads.
During the last year, in fact, I've been working as aupair in a village on the outskirt of Milton Keynes. The family whom I worked for was really welcoming and all their neighbors as well.In a couple of months I became the centre of the family:they completely trusted in me and I was responsible for their little child, who was six years old, and run all the household as the lady was on a wheelchair and not able to do anything around the house.
I look forward to finding another welcoming family soon
Regards, Laura
