Dear family, How are you? Let me introduce myself. My name is Matěj Volf, I am still 17 years old, but early I will be 18 years old. I was born in the Czech Republic in 1992. I study at the Grammar School in my hometown Varnsdorf and I have been learning English for more than 8 years not just at the school but also self-study. I live in a common Czech family. My father Martin is a store manager in the sports shop. My mother Kateřina is a product manager in the stationery company. Unfortunately I do not have any brothers or sisters. The fourth member of the family is our dog. Its name is Taz, the French bulldog. Taz is with us for six years and we love him. We live in a flat all my life. I really love sports. I can do many sports, for example football, basketball, floorball, athletic, swimming, skiing (XC, DH) cycling... But the cycling has grown on me. I am double Czech National Champion in Cross Country Cycling (2008 and 2009). But now I ride bicycle just for fun. By the way I won regional championship in X-Terra Triathlon and was third on regional championship in 300 meters and 60m sprint. Now let me introduce my studies and my grades. As I said, I study at the Grammar School in Varnsdorf. I am in the third year. My last report was with the best possible results, I had the best grades. Last three years I was awarded as one of the best students at the school. I have been studying English for eight years, last year I started to study a special subject ‘Business English’. Every time I had the best grades in these subjects. I think my level of English is most probably intermediate (I have been learning it for more than 8 years). I have been learning three foreign languages – English, German and Latin. Because of my good results in German I was invited to attend German Grammar School in Bautzen. There I was studying for few weeks. I hold some school records in athletic. I competed in many ‘Knowledge Olympics’, I was sometimes successful on regional rounds. I regularly supervise five years old boy Jiří. He is my friend, we do many activities together. I taught him to play football and floorball. Sometimes we ride a bicycle on a traffic playground. If it is needed I lift him from kindergarten or go to trainings with him. I think we are good friends and at the same time Jiří respects me. At the weekends I look for 4 years old boy Honzík. I have taught him to play some sports and to tie the laces. Honzík’s parents said that every weekend he looks forward to me. I think we are good friends too. I can do some housework, e.g.: common cleaning (vacuuming, wiping of the dust, swabbing), preparation of easy meals (breakfasts, snacks…), washing up. Why I want to go to your country as an au-pair? I really like taking care of children, and I always wanted to do it in a foreign country. I want to get to know your culture, your habits, your language, your sights...
