Do you experience these problems when trying to find an au pair or nanny?

Do you find it difficult to know where to go for advice about any aspect of having an au pair or nanny?
In addition to continually researching and then updating our website, we also welcome direct contact from families and nannies/au pairs by telephone and/or email. Please call Phil Lodge on 07831 453499, or email us at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it  and whatever the nature of your question we will try and point you to the answer, either on this site or elsewhere. We are regularly asked questions about:
- rates of pay or pocket money
- how to start the search
- holiday entitlement
- tax and national insurance for nannies and au pairs
- national minimum wage implications for au pairs and nannies
- visas, worker registration, accession worker card applications for nannies and au pairs
- the use of UK NHS medical and dental facilities by foreign nannies and au pairs whilst staying in the UK
- and much more...

Wondering where to look for an au pair or nanny?
Do you go to an au pair or nanny agent and pay between ?350 and ?450 for a placement ? possibly much more for a nanny? Or do you go to an online service, pay between ?40 and ?50 and take on the responsibility of finding and checking out an au pair or nanny yourself?
Universal Au Pairs provides families with a cost effective way of finding your own au pair. In the For Families section we provide you with guides and suggestions on finding and living with an au pair, and also templates to assist in checking references.

Worried about what duties you will want the au pair to complete, and how you organise this?
With Example Timetable and Au Pair Welcome Pack we provide you with the tools to enable you to properly organise and convey the duties you require the au pair to complete.

Concerned about security when using a credit or debit card online, especially in regard to a business you have not used before?
We only use secure payment facilities provided by Sage Pay, a product from Sage the well known accountancy services company. We never see your credit card details, so we can never lose or abuse them.

You decide to join an on line site, and then find that the au pairs you have seen are no longer available, and you do not know how many new members are joining.
Universal Au Pairs runs pay-per-click advertising campaigns all across Europe targeting the countries from which au pairs and nannies can visit the UK. These campaigns are continually monitored for their impact and continually revised to ensure we can always offer a good selection of new au pairs. We have found that au pairs join looking for immediate placements, but many are also looking for placements that start six months or more in advance.

You invite an au pair, but it doesn?t work out and the au pair leaves.
You are free to return to Universal Au Pairs, and provided your membership is current you can look for a replacement without any further payment to us. In fact you can come back as many times as you wish during your membership.

How do I know whether your site actually ?works? and people find au pairs?
Universal Au Pairs sends a survey to every family and every au pair two weeks after they first join. These results and other feedback help to drive our program of continuous improvement. A high percentage of our members respond to the survey, and these results are regularly updated along with our Testimonials.
